Youth Ministry

Good Shepherd's Youth ministry is quite diverse. . .

A van of high school youth heads out west to do ministry among the Dakota Sioux at a Youth Works mission site.  They have been raising funds through car washeses, special projects and offerings. Weekks after the adventure is over, they are still talking about how shareing the love of Christ has changed their lives.

On a weekend in March, grades 8-12 attend the Chicago Youth Encounter weekend in a large hotel in western suburb. Bands, speakers, Bible study--all done very well and very much on the young adult level.  A youth exclaims, "I wish I didn't have to go  back to school.  People are different here!"

On regular Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m., a contemporary Bible study, entitled Nooma, challenges youth to make faith connections through parables in video form.

A family receives a campership so their two kids--one in elementary and one in middle school--can go to Lutherdale Bible Camp in Elkhorn.  The congregation pays hlf the cost for each young person who would like to attend the summer camp.

There's more diversity. A young girl sings solos in worship. A young person is given a partin a sanctuary drama. Two teens sign up to usher on a Sunday morning. Several youth provide the face painting for the summer Vacation Bible School. You get the picture.

Good Shepherd's Youth ministry is very diverse. It is not just for the youth, but with the youth, and it is youth doing real ministry.

Presently, our Youth team leader's include, Amos Sookraj, Bible teacher and Facebook pro,Allison Litin and Rachel Ekblad, college students, and, of course, Pastor Steve.
